The New York City Garment District

Also known as the Chelsea/garment district is located in a prime location of Manhattan. With the Javits Center to the west, Time Square to the north, the Empire State Building to the east, and Penn Station and Madision Square garden to the south. The district was originally fully retail, until the gradual moving of retailers uptown. What remained was wholesalers and warehouses. The district is now home to a high concentration of garment and fabric manufactuers, wholesale distributors, factory sales reps, brokers, and designer studios, especially all along Madison Avenue. Designer studios and factory showrooms are found within the skyscrapers in the 100 block of Madison Ave, making it easy for retailers and distributors to visit many vendor, with very little travel time spent in the city.
